Middlegrounds

In 2012 as part of its centennial, The Rotary Club of Toledo pledged and raised $300,000 to assist with the building of the first downtown park as part of the Metropark system. The Middlegrounds is scheduled to open in 2016. On December 7, 2015, Toledo Rotary Club Foundation trustees along with Past District Governor and Past President Helyn Bolanis and former Foundation Chairman Reg Jackson presented the $300,000 check to Metroparks Executive Director Steve Madewell and Board Member Fritz Byers alongs with Bogs, the Metroparks’ mascot.

The Middlegrounds will share a half-mile frontage with the Maumee River beginning at the Anthony Wayne Bridge and extending southwest of the Martin Luther King Plaza and include walking trails, a pavilion, kayak launch, and much more. The Rotary Club of Toledo will host an event at the Middlegrounds in the fall of 2016.
